Making a Map With Plate Tectonics (Video)

Pangaea massAs you may (or may not) know, I founded the World Building Academy a while back in order to do more focused work and teaching in that subject area that I enjoy so much.  I have also always written in the world building subject area here at the Lizard Lair, which I will continue to do, but there will sometimes be overlap between these two venues in terms of the content I’m producing.

Here’s a case in point. I just made a cool video that teaches how to simulate a “Pangaea”-type proto-globe, and use continental drift to evolve an interesting world map. (Which is also a fun project for kids. It’s kind of like a grade-school art project for part of the exercise.)

In any case, I write about this in more detail at the World Building Academy blog, so if you want more info text-wise I will simply link you to that blog post on building your world with continental drift. However, for your viewing convenience, I’m including an embedded copy of this video right here as well.

Hey, even if you don’t think of yourself as an avid world-builder, if you’ve ever created a world or even a single continent setting for a story, an rpg, or even just for fun, you might find this useful or entertaining.

So here you go! Happy Continental Drifting!  And if you’ve ever wondered if I talk with my hands, this video will answer that question once and for all. LOL. (For more free weekly world building tips and how-to info, click this link for more info.)

Author Deborah Teramis Christian

Teramis wrote her first book at age 9, but like all good literary lizards has taken her time charging upon the market. Finally in a situation where she can write full time, she is becoming the Dragon, Unleashed, or a close facsimile thereof. Roar, said the saur.
