Sa’adani Empire content sneaking online!
In my breaks between writing stints, I’ve started migrating some of my Sa’adani Empire content online. That’s the larger cultural backdrop behind my books Mainline and Splintegrate; it is also a role-playing game setting. Later in 2009 I’ll be making public an immersive story setting for people to read and participate in. My present work with the Sa’adani material is related to that project insofar as it’s an infrastructure experiment. (The actual project may or may not be in this science fiction setting; that’s yet to be determined.)
Since the content also pertains to Splintegrate (which goes to the publisher early 2009), I’ll be making some portion of this material accessible in coming months to readers and fans and the mad surfing masses in Web-land (yes, I mean you).
If you’re a fan of my sf work, this means that you’ll finally have some handy dandy things to browse, like the much-lamented missing glossary from Mainline (it existed in the original version, but was cut because of length constraints), and more info about the culture of CAS (the Confederation of Allied Systems, where the planets Lyndir and Selmun III are located), and the Sa’adani who are their overlords. I have goodies ranging from military ranks to planet gazeteers to wedding customs and common professions and much, much more. I intend for this to be not only a reference guide – a concordance, if you will – to my written works, but also an immersive experience presented quite matter-of-factly as if you were there and part of that universe, or at least a contemporary tourist wanting to learn more about what is in the offing for your Cassian or Sa’adani-space travels.
I don’t yet have a newsletter widget installed here, so in lieu of newsletter (which you can sub to later for occasional book & writing-only announcements), you can either subscribe to this site via RSS feed, or email me (see contact info in the About tab) and let me know you want to be added to the newsletter list. That way you can be updated easily when there’s new Mainline/Splintegrate/Sa’adani Empire content online.
To be continued….
