Gaming
My science fiction and fantasy world settings began their existence as role-playing game campaign settings. As a game designer who’s worked on Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars, and several other products, I have always enjoyed the world building and the backend work that is necessary to make an adventure setting come alive.
Since I both create games and play them, this page is going to be the portal to two related but separate playgrounds.
One doorway will take you to a realm of commentary, game links, reviews and more pertaining to contemporary games, computer gaming, and game design subjects I find interesting.
The other doorway will launch you into an RPG zone where you will find material about the Sa’adani Empire and the world of old Àstareth. (Àstareth is the birthplace of the Sa’adani, and the backdrop of my fantasy novels.) The game material here is drawn from over 30 years of campaign development and the material that has been produced in the process. Some of it, such as fully developed campaign sourcebooks, will be for sale, but much of it will be available for free – enough, I think, that you will be able to play in these settings at a basic level and decide if you want to invest more in this game universe.
Speaking of game universes, be sure to check out Dragonsword, my new fantasy novel that I’m giving away for free. This story takes place in the island nation of Qua-lun, the ancestral home of the star-spanning Sa’adani Empire. So if you want a story that gives you a glimpse of a fabled Sa’adani past – or a story nearly concurrent with Truthsayer’s Apprentice, although half a world away – Dragonsword will be of interest to you.
Did You Know?
“All the main characters in Dragonsword were initially developed as NPCs with game specs. Character templates for persons in this book will be some of the first RPG info that will appear here at the Gaming portal.
